Hi all,

Thought i would see if any of you have any ideas of how to overcome this little issue!!

O.k, i have only owned my ex racer for 6 months. He is an amazing boy and our schooling is coming on great. we have a lesson every week and everything is going really well.

He hacks out fine, really calm and fab in traffic but being an ex racer he gets excited when i pick up the pace in company. He is fine in trot although quite keen but i make him go first and last but when i ask for the canter he squeals, throws himself about and puts in a huge buck. I had managed to sit them but had my first fall on sunday on a distance ride as when we hit an open field he just got too excited and although i walked first then asked calmly for a faster pace he just exploded and i hit the deck HARD!
I understand its prob a racer thing but any suggestions would be appreciated!

Do you have a friend with a calm sensible horse that you could work with? And do you have hills you can canter up, rather than on the flat?
