How can i/what can i improve on this horse.

brief history, owned for near 6 months, had an upside down neck, muscle damage/wastage around the withers and behind the saddle,. hes not easy to keep weight on.

currently work wise he does mostly hacking/lunging due to some issues in the school (i think ive over schooled and hes bored as all other things checked ie saddle teeth back.)

i still think i can improve on him, but what areas would you guys say i need to focus on?

Do you lunge with any aids, ie a pessoa or harbridge, I would reccommend to get his bum under him, just a thought???

I wouldn't say he was that bad! God, if you wanted to see up side down neck, and wastage at the withers and behind the saddle, you should have seen my last TB!!

He looks stunning, and to look at, would say he looked in good condition!

Wow! he looks lovely, are you small or is he HUGE?

He doesn't look like he won't keep weight on, well done to you he he does though - just lovely!

hes approx 9yr old. hes 16.3 im 5"2. so yes big horse small owner!

i do lunge him in a pessoa yes, also pole work etc as hes quarters were almost a triangle shape.

when i can get the schooling issue sorted i think i can improve on hes neck as at the moment hes head looks to big.. well thats what im seeing.

weight wise alot of it is because he was in hard work, 12 miles of fast hacking in under 2 hours.. so ive actually let him down for summer, to allow me to do long hacks again etc.

The difference between now and then is absolutely amazing - really well done. Like post above I would now move to looking towards a little more work around the hind quarters but the distance you've already brought him deserves a lot of credit especially in six months. I would also let him have some fun if he has schooled a little too much - some gentle cross country or beach rides work a treat for my girl and I can end u doing a little schooling here and there where she doesn't associate it with 'the sand school'!

LOL i took him to the beach,... the sod dumped me straight in the cold english channel (its ok you may laugh)

ive have stopped the schooling. even on the lunge no gadgets. weve freeschooled, jumped, hacked etc.

yes he was 6th it was devon county,

hes also done 2 affliated shows various classes and has picked up 4 3rds a 5th and a 6th... but i want to do better!
