How can this be happening?

I was shocked yesterday to find that there are still many flights to/from Heathrow. I’d assumed international travel had stopped.

i would hope they already have homes lined up, but if not it’s going to be like Christmas, people want a dog because they are stuck at home, then when lockdown ends the dogs will be surplus.

Seems mad. I read an article this morning about how Canada have looked into stray dogs being the intermittent carrier of covid so for many of these animals if they don’t get out they will be killed in not so humane ways but it doesn’t really sit well with me to be importing at this time.

Leishmaniasis is endemic in Cyprus, that should be a concern.

It will be interesting to see the defence by people on here who support the mass importation of strays. I would love to understand why it’s a good thing.

The last ferry journey I took, there was a van with ventilation fan and multiple dogs on board (could hear them barking), we were allowed onto the car deck three times to let dogs clean themselves/check over/offer water etc, the driver didn't come down once in 17 hours (everyone had to come down at the same time).

well we've known they aren't too fussed about disease control why would covid be any different.

definitely plenty of international freight still going, we ship to the US most days but the Ghana trip has taken a bit more organising than usual.
