How can you tell the manufacturer of a lock?

Just recieved my insurance claim form after having my saddle stolen - it asks for the make and manufacturer of the lock?

I think its a mortice lock, but how would you find out the manufacturer?

Take it to a D.I.Y shop and ask if they know the make?

That would involve removing the tack room door! Not sure the yard owner would like that!

I havn't looked closely at it - I've just received the form and the tack room is at the yard, was wondering if there would be any writing on it? Can't say I can recall any writing but could be wrong?

LOL maybe not, then.

Alot of locks have a manufacturer name/logo on them so it might say.

Have a look on the flat part where the bolt comes out, it is normally imprinted on there.
