How competitive is your yard?

Is your yard a competitive yard - for example if you go out to a competition, is there always someone who is never quite brave enough themselves to compete, but will happily stay at home and snipe about you?

Or do you all go out and happily compete in your chosen disciplines and support eachother?

Or do none of you compete?

Almost everyone on my yard competes from top dressage horses to Bog ponies

Everyone is friendly and get on with it.

Not everyone competes on my yard. Those that do mainly do prelim/novice unaffiliated dressage. A couple do elementary affiliated dressage. As far as I know everyone supports each other. I dont really hear anyone sniping at each other. Probably because barely any of us compete that much and those that do a bit of prelim are mainly just having a go really. Not that serious about it. I'm glad its this way. I'd hate to be on a yard where people bitch about each other's results.

pretty much the whole yard competes in either dressage or show jumping (or both) but everyone is very supportive asked how you got on, always congratulation you if you do well or commiserate if you have a bad day. i am on the best yard ever!!!

We all compete and go out in a big group and offer support, I think there tends to be a bit of rivalry between me and the other girls my age (a few teenagers at my yard) but it's nothing major and everyone is generally supportive.

There are only 9 of us on our yard and apart from 2 who have broken horses at the moment we all compete, all at different levels, doing various disciplines - I'm definately the unaffiliated I'll give anything a try person! There is no bitching and everyone is really supportive. It's lovely.

im at a yard with over a hundred horses so i'd say at least half of us compete as we hold alot of comps at the yard i wouldnt say it gets bitchy really it does between the juniors but not the adults in the riding club we all kind of get on with our own thing really. i keep out of the yard polotics when something happens

Yes, we have a mixed group on ours, prob out the owners half do unaff fun stuff, mainly SJ and the rest are affil SJ, everyone is quite encouraging and we often go out in very big groups to shows. No one does dressage though (we very rarely have one dr comp up the road and so we might venture off to that but there's no one who actually makes the effort to go to dr on a reg. basis)

Its a mix of competing and not, but everyone is very supportive and interested in how you get on. People even turn up unannounced to cheer you on which is lovely

and one of the only ones competing unaff (pretty much everyone else does either BD or BE). It is v friendly though, and even those schooling at GP are happy to help me when I forget how to use the walker, or offer comforting words when I come home eliminated from XC again

We have a real mixture from pet ponies, happy hackers, to those who compete, eveyone is interested to hear results etc and is supportive, there was only one arrogant moron who has left now, thank god as I got a bit fed up with her saying how I shouldn't bother showing my boy as he is plain and ugly for a welsh D - she pissed me off, but everyone one else is nice!!

hmm, my yard is similar. It's usually very nice, but there's always one unhappy camper who always spreads their negativity! I am keeping my plans quiet from now on, that way they can't be peed upon from a great height!

There are 18 horses/ponies on our yard - virtually none of the others are ridden at all. Only our 5 get ridden regularly - they're fit and hunting - the rest just get turned out, mucked out and brought in again.

If I go out to a competition or hunting, I'm not sure anyone actually notices.
