We have a charity mock hunt here most years, nothing huge, just thirty or so of us get together between chrismas and new year and with permision of the local land owners have a fun day and raise a bit of money for a worthy cause. Its allways good fun and I enjoy doing it.
But it s looking like I wont get to join in this year. Took the mare in two mondays ago to go on our exercise ride to find she was hopping on her front right, called the farrier as she had pulled a shoe off the friday before so thought he may have nailed on a bit tight. But he found an absess!!! Bloody thing was very deep and resulted in taking till thursday, just passed till a shoe could go back on (also ment she had to live in for that time and she is a cow living in)
So shoe went on, and off I went again, she felt great, bucking and charging around, so I was so happy that she hadn't lost too much fitness and was feeling good in herself. On Saturday I rode out with YM and I said to her I thought I could feel the odd dodgy step, but after a few mins she was ok so we put it down to the stones on the drive, and went on to have a fantastic ride half killing one of our clients who tagged on.
But yesterday she was hopping again!!!
I text the farrier so I hope he will drop in today and see her. But as I managed to talk him into putting a shoe back on my gelding on saturday night I feel I am pushing my luck with favours

But if she has to have more time off I don't think I will be able to join in as she just wont be fit enough and as she is pure highland she drops fittness fast (not a big chunky highland by the way, this pony has done the Burgie 3 day taster)
My TB is on holiday at the moment and even if he wasn't he would kill me as he is nuts with three friends, let alone 30!!
Its all just crap as the others will talk about it for weeks as it's such fun.
