Basically, I want to know if you have to take the horse on the day you buy it (should you get the winning bid!) or if there's a time period ie. 1-2 working days in which you get to pick up the horse?

If you ask the seller nicely they might drop it off at your yard, as long as it's either not too far from the sale or not in totally the wrong direction.

IMO horse auctions are only for the very experienced. If you feel that you fit this description, it would be a good idea to go to several auctions with no intention (AND NO MONEY) to buy, in order to see how it is done.

They are all different, tatts in newmarket you proabably have to be out on the day of sales, however i bought one from doncaster sales and asked the stable manager and kept him there overnight. nf sales - you pretty much have to take it straight away or within a couple of hours. welsh sales i think you have to to take them on the day.

if the horse is sold with a warranty you must get it vetted there by sales company's vet otherwise if you take it away you are basically 'accpeting' anything thats wrong with it.
