How do I ask tactfully..a bit long winded

I'm lucky enough to keep my horses at home on the farm. My nextdoor neighbour has a full size arena with a great rubber surface, she lives at the top of our drive (no roadwork to get there). She has always been happy for me to use the school whenever I want to... so here is the problem. She 'dog sits' and more often than not there are half a dozen dogs running around the place in & out the school & paddocks. Normally they are not a problem if I am in the school however there is one collie who will chase anything in the school doing more than a trot. I feel rather uncomfortable asking her to put him away each time & when I ask if its free she always replies 'Oh u dont need to ask'. Should I just make & regular arrangement with her ( difficult cos I work irregularly) or shall I carry on nipping in when she goes out. .. The most difficult thing about the whole situation is the "bleep bleep" collie is her own. Does anyone who has managed to stick with my post have any advice please??:D
 
Could you offer to put the dog away yourself when you want to use the school and let it out again when you have finished??
 
sounds like you are lucky to have such a nice neighbour , could you not tactfully say that you are worried that the dog may get kicked or trodden on and offer to put it away for its' own safety ?

Say you're worried about it, offer to shut it in a stable while you're there to keep it safe and let it out again when you've finished :)
 
As above really. Just mention to her you are worried dog could get hurt etc etc Really wouldn't want anything to happen to it. She sounds like she would understand if she allows you to use her school for free anway :)
 
You could mention that her dog likes to chase you.

But really its her dog and arena and she is being kind letting you use it.

Its a good way of desensitizing your horse!

My dog and the yard dog often play and run around the school, i learnt to ignore it and my once spooky horse is now ignoring them!
