How do I clean horse boy bits?

A rather grim conversation topic for this time in the morning but how do i clean Hovis's bits?
Sids always have seemed clean and I'm a great advocate of not touching it if it doesn't need it, so i've never had to do it.
I have been putting off dealing with Hovis but his man bits are looking more than a touch manky, particularly on the erm main piece of equipment.
So will someone please tell me how to do it?!! Baring in mind I am a novice idiot who's never had to do it before........

Get some rubber gloves and some warm water with either sheath cleaner or hibiscrub and get stuck in!

I can't believe that I am even asking for a graphic description as even the thought is making me want to squeal in a high pitched girlie "eeuuuwww" way, but how do i get to the "main bit" if its inside?
How hard to you scrub? I don't want to look like Rebecca Loos and that pig.........

soften "it" with babyoil first - you need to loosen the smegma as it sticks and if you pull it off you can cause an infection - tread carefully!!! lol
is there anyway you can get him to "relax" so he drops it down- mine are both partial to having their bums scratched and will (sometimes) oblige.
My sharer doing one of my boys this week - baby oil first - squirt it on it, then warm water and sheath cleaner and a cloth - and very gentle hands.

I have no idea what "relaxes" Hovis!! I think he's a bit young to be oggling fit naked mares in H&H and I can't think of anything else

Trust me i have no desire to live out some perverse fantasy playing with his bits but its really manky and I do think i'm going to have to do something.

My horse does 'relax' when sedated but at the first sight of the marigolds he withdraws it totally again. if not sedated he tries to kick me! If its' any consolation I've never been able to clean it properly in 12 years, its pretty manky looking but its not dropped off yet!

Eugh, very grim, should've posted this one in the eve when we'd all had a glass of vino!!

Fortunatley I have had my brekkie before reading this, I agree with the baby oil, I wait till they are "relaxed" grab the oil and give it a gentle squirt, it does wonders without having to get stuck in!!!

a good squirt of baby oil is all you need to do - just wait till it's 'hanging loose' and then gently squirt with baby oil, next day it will be all clean!!.....no handling required!!

Yep... agree with the baby oil.... and do the whole operation over a few days... its easy to make them sore!!!

What worrys me even more is the thought he enjoys it...
I'm a fan of this baby oil idea particularly if it decreases "handling" time as it were.

Some boys are dirtier than others

I had geldings for over 10 years and never had to get 'stuck in' never even needed a squirt of baby oil. Keep your fingers crossed you'll get one of them rather than a boy who starts to make a funny noise if it's not cleaned enough....eeeeeeeew!

It's all tucked neatly away, and requires naught but a swipe at arm's length with a damp sponge.

the best stuff is IV Horse Sheath Cleaner www.4horse.co.uk about £5.50, it's a mousse, very easy to use and smells nice!

If it's really skanky I usually get a bucket of warm water and a clean sponge and if it's out then gently take hold and sponge off, if he won't get it out then I go in. All done very VERY gently (I have to be super careful because I have nails

My boy rather enjoys it and is happy to oblige when it's time for 'dirty jobs'.

What I do find amazing is that when we start there's never anyone around but as soon as he gets it out there's a whole bloody crowd of people watching!!!

I've always been told to leave well alone and not to clean them unless they are really manky!!

My horse walks around with his willy hanging out all the time so wouldn't be a problem to grab it and clean it!!!

have owned gelding for over 35 yrs..NEVER washed one yet..and i'm not about to start!!

best left alone IMO as the horses natural bacterial balance will be upset...

How funny! Have a horrible image of rebecca loos and a pig you mentioned...what the hell is that all about?! Yuk, should not have asked. That girl has no shame.
Anyway! My boy pulls his back in whenever i go near, but sometimes give it a baby wipe (fragrance free) when it is, er, out, whenever i can. Just be very gentle or horse can get upset and be reluctant to let you again. I have to keep an eye on my boy's expression to see when he has had enough or he will threaten by lifting a leg. Agree with JM07 - don't fix what isn't broken. If it's really, really awful, use warm water only - never use anything like Hibiscrub...etc...if you don't want it on your ladybits, he probably doesn't want it on his geldingbits

Totally agree normaly but one of mine gets huge skanky lumps of crusty stuff (cornflakes spring to mind!! bet none eats them without throwing up now

) which needs to be removed as its really sharp. as i said before - huge squirt of babyoil and job done really.
