You can't delete a thread or post on this forum. You can edit posts for 15min after you posted it. You can request admin team delete a thread or post but they wont do it without very good reason. You just wanting it gone is not good enough reason. Hope that helps. :)

I actually think it is a really poor show. Sometimes you need to delete a thread and admin refuse. I think it's appalling. Sorry OP but unless your thread contravenes their terms and conditions, they won't delete.

this happened to me when I was in a very bad place and I put something on here that with hindsight and more thought was unwise and despite messaging Admin a few times to explain the situation they refused to remove a comment that had offended someone

Hope you're ok OP and that your other thread gets removed. Good luck.

Ps, a thread on the dog page was removed v quickly the other day, despite having nothing particularly bad about it, so there is hope.

Yes, it's disgraceful and shows a complete lack of empathy. I wonder what the legal position really is on this? Can someone really publish something that you have written when you no longer want it out there. Especially when it could cause offence to another person?

ETA I write novels and can remove them from anywhere I wish. I can ask for them to be removed from websites where I don't want them as they are infringing my copyright. Why are forum posts any different?

Yes me too OP. I cannot understand why your thread is still running when there could be legal complications, whereas the dog thread had nothing like that in it and yet it was removed! They're certainly a weird lot running this forum these days if you ask me.

Yes, I believe they can. Pretty sure if I remember from reading the terms and conditions, and it's been a while, that you've given them licence, ie permission, to use it as they fancy and by accepting the terms and conditions you've waived your moral rights to say what tthey can and can't do with whatever you write. Pretty much.

Yes the difference is one you post to a forum you hand the copyright to the forums owner - it's part of the t and cs... It's like sending someone a letter - once it's been posted it's no longer yours - it's why you 'post ' to a forum.

Personally, I like the fact that you can't alter or remove anything after 15 mins.
I'm on other forums where people can and do, remove and alter what they've said days later, thus making later posts look out of context and can even make posters who've responded look unpleasant.

Read your post again, then again, then again, are you happy to have your words out there forever? If yes then press post. It really is quite simple.

If it is something the admin team feel is a problem they will remove it, but I am assured by people far cleverer than me with technology that even then it can be found.
You cannot hold other people responsible for what you have chosen to say publicly. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, hopefully a sting will cause more thought in the future.
