I've got a Fell pony who currently has a Pleasure horse passport and the only things known are his breed, DOB and one previous owner from a few years back. But i think his original passport was replaced some where down the line as this one has hardly any details on at all.

Now i want to register him with the Fell pony society but i have no knowledge of his parents and have emailed the previous owner from a few years back and have had no reply. So i was wondering if there is a website or database i can use to track down his parents using his passport number or something? i have heard of other people doing this and being successfull but their horses breeds are more common.

Aaaah!

You wont be able to 'register' your pony with the FPS as this would have been done within the year of birth for any pure bred pony & the breeder would have had to have sent covering slips etc as proof of stallion used etc.

You say you know he is a Fell? You'd need to have proof (which at present you dont seem to) to be able to call him a pure bred :(

However, its worth you writing to the FPS secretary & giving them as much info as you can - date/year of birth, previous owner (s) & their address etc, they may be able to help to trace if your poy is a registered one or not, but be aware its breeding time so they might not be too quick at this time of the year.

Good luck

I would get in touch with the fell pony society, their contact details are on their website;
http://www.fellponysociety.org/index.html
Ask them to search if your pony has a passport with them. If not keep trying previous owners as you will need to get hold of the breeder to find out the sire& dam to register your pony. Good luck
