How? Please tell me!

I've always found horses (buying and sharing) through word of mouth before. But since I've moved cities and have no links with the horsey set here there's not much chance of that happening.

My horse is now retired and living a life of leisure with my parents (a long and boring story but there are good reasons why he's with them not with me), and I'm starved of equine company. I'd love to have another of my own but it would be tight moneywise, and for the moment I'm aware that I'm the 'safety net' in terms of making sure that my old boy gets everything he needs.

I've been riding for 18 years (eek!) and have had my own for 12. I've also helped with schooling / bringing on several others. I'm fairly experienced, sympathetic, not a total fruitcake, and would be willing to help out with stable jobs and / or make a financial contribution.

I'm looking for a bit of a challenge. A horse with personality. I have a penchant for large warmbloods but in reality size, type or age aren't deal breakers. I'm 5'4'' and 8.3 stone, I'd be looking for something to school, hack and jump for fun 2-3 days per week.

Please, please recommend websites, local tack shops and yards, or individual horses. PM me if you'd prefer.

I am in Cambridge, and would be looking for something fairly close.

Thank you in advance! Stawberries and cream for all suggestions. I just put my height and weight on the internet for all to see...that's how keen I am :D

Ditto here, and you're EXACTLY the sort of person I'm looking for to share my warmblood with lots of personality. Grr. Fancy moving to Sussex?

I was thinking about putting an ad in the local horsemart, but I'm not sure what sort of people that might attract...

*moves*. Always the way :s

I might check out horsemart - I guess you never know. I've tried new rider but there were only some tiny ponies local to me.

Any other thoughts? I can add chocolate pudding cake to the strawberries and cream ;)

I found my current sharer on rightequine.com. in fact that's where most of the replies came from.

Get loads of wanted ads out on all the websites too - I always felt more comfortable contacting someone than being contacted.

Thanks Maletto, that's a good point. I guess there are a lot of people (like me!) who look on the websites but don't advertise. So, I've got Preloved, rightequine, New Rider, Horsemart...I'll go and right some adverts :)

Preloved and freeads are normally quite good for shares.

There are also a few sites if you google, I can't remember what they are! I think its horses to loan or horses to share or something like that!

Editd -just looked and its http://www.horsesharesuk.co.uk/ - I see someone has already posted the horses to loan one

I am in Cambridge and found my last sharer on Gumtree (I think there are lots of people on there advertising for sharers at the moment). I would like somebody to share my horse but due to my location (city centre) there is no hacking...unless you want to get run over by cars!

Im in bedfordshire! looking for something with a personality, my experience is pretty much the same as the post authors, live in henlow, near hitchin. anyone got anything?! horse shares uk is a good one. but i am only finding tiny ponies near me. i miss the horse smell!!!!
