How do I find a sharer/loaner for this pony?

11.2hh Welsh A, would prefer her to stay here with us but kids are growing out of her like weeds.

So find a sharer right? Or a loan home if perfect?

Well…how do I write this ad?
She’s traffic shy with lorries (can hack round the fields and use the schooling field or go down the very quiet lane onto off road hacking).
Has sweet itch but has a rug and is otherwise fine.
She goes on or off lead rein BUT can be sharp and spook at her own shadow (literally, watched the little madam do so yesterday while leading her off another pony!).
She’s brilliant fun but fast - so needs a competent rider with a good seat who likes an adrenaline rush.

My son absolutely adores her, finds her antics entertaining and loves her craziness. Daughter loves her too but is less keen on the spooking at own shadow bit because she is less sticky. Has been a LR pony in the past.

Not wildly bothered about much of a contribution because she costs almost nothing to keep. People don’t turn up regularly in my experience if you charge nothing though because they feel they have nothing to lose.

I would take her in hand showing. Best she’s beautiful! You’d need to interview parents and kids. Nightmare finding good combination. Best of luck.

Is she ok as a lead rein pony? I know lots of sharp little ponies who are a dream on the lead rein. If she is then that's the route to go down because finding someone small enough and competent enough to ride something like that, that doesn't already have her own is going to be hard!

Thanks for the ideas. I might have a go at games with her in the field and see if she would take to it.

She came to me with a history of uncontrolled itch, angry and difficult on the ground as well as under saddle. We spent a few months with her, got her easy to handle and green but fine under saddle and sent her back to her toddlers - it just wasn’t for her. She decided to throw in the towel and refuse to be caught in the end. So I bought her. She is happy here, she and my cob live in each other’s pockets and she is safe. I would absolutely loan out to the right home but she’s not an easy cookie. I would also happily have her here and just have someone borrow her for mounted games or whatever and pop her back. I can lead her off my cob, exercising her isn’t an issue. It’s just not much fun only doing that for the rest of your life when you’re only 10!

She leads sweetly - I barely know she is there in hand or from another pony - but does still spook now and then. Obviously not far on the lead, but she does do it.

I'd try and find a horsey mum with a tot who wants to commit 2 or 3 times a week for LR sessions.

I ended up with 3 RC mums and tots all 'borrowing' (sharing) my mini's. Neither was good off lead but saints on the LR.
I did insist if child was really tiny that they bought along another adult too, so one could mind child whilst horsey one got pony out of field or stable etc.
This worked out really well, pony had exercise or change of scenery at least, sometimes I'd get offers of help to do poo picking etc. I was quite happy with them just 'borrowing' as i didn't want to become liable in any way.

Try sharers before loaning? See how pony responds in a situation she is already happy in?
