How do I get my pony to eat?

I have a Sec A, who has a sore sole the vet has been and given him Bute for 8 days, Farrier is coming next week to fit shoes.

The problem is he won't eat it, the first 2 days ate no problem but has now turned his nose up. Is there anything I can put in to make it more tempting?

He is on Speedi-beet, he only has feed to get MagOx in him. Has had Lami at some point in the past so I don't want to give him anything that could bring this on.

I've resorted to hand feeding him but still only managed to get half of it down him, please help.

Our old lady, who had to have bute daily for arthritis for years, hated the taste of it, so we mixed it with water and drinking chocolate and syringed it in. Another tip which works for some it to store the packets in the freezer and remove just before use.

jam sandwiches

marmite/vegemite sarnies

anythign with a nice strong taste they like works well.

We mix it in with natural yoghurt and syringe it in.
