I've been told his sire and dam but person who bred him never bothered getting him registered due to money. I was told I could register him myself though if I wanted to. How do I go about doing this and does anyone know how much it is likely to cost?

Haven't done it myself, but I believe you'd have to contact the breed society and find out if they hold dna for dam and sire on record, if not and both parents are still living and registered horses/ponies then you'll need to gain dna samples from both parents to compare to the dna of your horse, a dna test I believe is about £300 or so I believe. If their records aren't held on file and parents are deceased or not registered, then I'm not sure if you can get the horse registered...??

If you are a member of the CPBS it is only €50 to register a foal, it is €90 if you are not. Contact the society and they will send you out a form to complete with instructions. Vet will come and take the blood sample and note the markings. Takes about 10 weeks to process.
