I havent heard of anything that can help that actually works.. i guess just make sure shes on a really good diet and avoid brushing too much as this can pull out or dammage the shafts. i usually give my boys tail a wash and keep it sprayed with a mane and tail detangler to minimize brushing. His tail was poor when i got him and its nice and thick now! Although his mane is another story... its so thin and is forever being pulled out by rugs etc despite everything i try! I have come to terms with the fact he will always have a thin mane plaiting is out of the question... maybe hair extensions for horses!
Thanks warmblood crazy, iv only had her 2 months so not expecting a miracle yet, it looks like its been chewed its so thin, but it definitely hasnt been chewed. just wondered if theres any supplements i can add to her feed. she has a beautiful thick mane and her coat is in a great condition its just her tail, it baffles me!
Try using Megatek diluted 1 part Megatek to 4 parts water and sprayed on. Available from www.tailgotor.co.uk .... Totally brill stuff for any hair growth issues. I've used it on my highland to get his mane back after he rubbed it off and it really seems to help.
Ps .... Also great for poor hooves and your own nails!
Second the mega-tek I have even used it on my own hair with great results! You can also rub it on neat to hooves and blanket rubs. Can't praise it enough.
Have a look how much biotin is in the diet currently as this helps, I was advised 15-20mg is good to aim for. Also as I have just found out, from my vet who is researching for me a good diet for feet growth, try to avoid too much selenium in the diet as it can cause dull coats, mane & tail breakage and flaky hooves.
