i dont know how to move your weight over on to the right....i can ride quite balanced so have never had that probelm...however if you have too much weight in your hand use a squishy ball in the hand and look at how hard you are sqeezing as you ride out...this makes you more aware and then can compensate.....i ue this teq..when i teach contact to people..
i used to be very balanced until i fractured my lower back, now i think i lean without realising i do as it stops my back hurting quite as much.
problem is i am so unbalanced i came off him last week and landed on my back on the road when he tripped which is not something i have ever done before
I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that if you lean to one side when riding then to lengthen the opposite stirrup by one hole
As I said I could well be wrong but it worked for me
Ohh yeah I did a similar thing to Ellies_mum2, I read it in a book and it helped. You lengthen the opposite stirrup not by one hole, but by 4. Sounds extreme and I got some very odd looks from the people at my yard but it's helped!
It can also be showing a weakness in one side, I lean to the right so my old instructor told me I needed to work on strengthening my left side, so I got an exercise ball and worked on my left side, then went swimming and held onto side of the pool and only used left leg.

Ouch - landing on your back on the road sounds awful, are you ok?
I lean to the right, I don't know how to stop it but it annoys the hell out of me. Will follow this thread with interest...

yeah thanks, was & still is rather painful, poor lad it wasn't his fault , a deer jumped out at us, he spooked & tripped and i went right over his head
been riding with my leathers 2 holes longer as my saddle fitter said i was riding way too short which wasn't helping jay, that and its a new saddle meant i had no chance of staying on lol
Ask someone to check behind to make sure that your saddle is straight - the channel should be over the spine and that your stirrups are level. If it is all OK try altering your stirrups - put the left up a hole or the right one down. Just thinking about it - if that doesn't work try the other way around up with the right or down with the left!
weeelllll, obv get yourself checked by a good osteopath first
!!! then you could try doing some exercises to balance evenly on both legs separately when standing. that will help make you more aware of how mjuch weight you're putting on each leg when riding.
my daughter rode much stronger on the right side and her instructor hoiked that stirrup up really short and she had to ride like that for a few days then start putting it down again.
