from poo'ing in the 'wrong' part of the garden?
I have a garden, which is about 80x40m approx. The bottom part of it, I have the compost, a few fruit trees and its generally 'scruffy turf'. At the top, we have the bench, sunbathing spots (!), the washing line and a flat area for the kids to fool about on, better turf too.
Over the last week or two, the dog has thought she'd rather poo on the top part - where I don't want dog mess. She used to be fine with doing her business down the bottom, and I have no idea why she has changed her mind.

She gets walked twice daily, or a free run of the farm for much of the day, but does her last wee (and poo it seems) in the garden before we all go to bed.

Any ideas?

Correct me if Im wrong but your dog only uses that part of the garden last thing at night.

If that is right then my solution that I use with mine is put them on the lead and take them up the drive, the reason I do this is because of the badgers and foxes in the garden at night. I know its a drag but I have 6 dogs sometimes and it seems to take forever, better that though than a trip to the vet after being bitten by a badger.

Well, my dogs seem to have a strange aversion to pooing in long grass, so you could stop mowing the nice area for a while until she gets the idea of going in the scrappy area again?! Or, I guess just go out with her for her late night poo for a few days/weeks and interrupt any business in the wrong area and highly praise action in the right bit?

I get the logic of the lead idea, but some dogs (mine, at least!) won't go when on the lead so this could be tedious imo.

Mine poo where they want, when they want lol. But seem to have preference of grass. Unless we are out walking, and there are lots of people then Teal needs to do one inthe middle of the path and always makes sure A)he doesnt stay still B) its a runny excited poo....Lucky me.

Can you not just section an area off? I have a large lawned garden and although the dogs are out there mainly when we are they are confined to the paved/patio area for their business so that I can hose/swill if off. We just have very high trealcing around the patio......my akitas kennel (is at the top of the lawned garden) and is left open for her most of the time and she mainly lives in the garden but she is very clean and we pick up her mess, I would not like my whole lawn covered in mess, so definately easier to section off.

This is no help or constructive but my lurcher jumps into my mother-in-laws garden, next door, for her morning poo. Very civilised! It works with cats.
