How do I value my Horse? Sunny died in an RTA in July this year, The claim handlers don't seem to know how to value him and thought the vets would give them a value, The market seems to be all over the place aswell, as I bought him as a baby surely the value can't be only what I paid 12 years ago!?!

I would have thought you're looking for a market value valuation. Although the sticking point may come if you have not increased his value with your insurance company since his original purchase.

When my car was written off - not the same thing at all and I am very sorry to hear about Sunny - I disputed the offer the insurance company made. I sent them copies of ads listing similar cars at the same age to prove my point. So, look for ads that describe Sunny like horses and collect them. I know the prices will be all over the place but maybe try to find similarish ones?

But crack on...prices are not great at the moment with people trying to sell before winter and Uni..so it would have been a little higher in July.

But, money aside, horrible to hear how you lost your horse. This must must have been extremely traumatic for you.

Sunny was a 15'3 Part Arab Quarter horse, chestnut with a star - born 25th sept 2000 and bred by the local vet and New Park polo chairman Mr Broughton, meny of his brothers and sisters were polo ponies, I purchased him in feb 2002.
To me he is what everyone looks for, he was loyal , honest, my true best friend, we achieved so much together trusting in each other, I cannot even slightly think of ever replacing him, no one would ever be good enough!
I do not remember the accident at all but it was reported in the horse and hound, horse and country tv and the Bournemouth echo,
He was hit by the local Keeper from the local Country Estate on a straight road in good weather, He was driving an l200 4x4, along with many broken bones I am suffering post traumatic stress and am currently still mourning the loss .
