Male or female i have great admiration for you! After 5 months (+3 off after birth) i still can't find the time to actually get back into riding! I have a pure bred Oldenburg a Connemara pony (my sons) and a Shire cross.
I've lost lots of confidence of riding the oldenburg as she's a typical moody mare and i'm planning on gaining the confidence back in the saddle on the shire. The only issue is, WHERE DO I FIND THE TIME? The only person to look after Logan (my son) is his great gran and well.. he's quite a handful and she's getting older.

Any tips?

Sorry can't help- i waited until mine were at school and nursery to start riding again.

I'm not a 'single' parent but my OH works abroad so I am the sole carer for our daughters I only ride in the week, which shapes what i do i.e. Clear round show jump, dressage and I'm aiming to start hunting on Tuesdays soon too.

I don't ride on weekends unless girls are having a very rare stay over with grand parents as I see the weekend as 'their time' so they ride their pony and if there something on we go to a show. And do all the other lovely family stuff that I work hard through the week to free up the time for.

Have you got a friend that might like to ride the mare and you could do shifts you ride and she watch the baby then visa versa?

Good luck though

It's hard and I can only ride week ends in the winter, iv got 6 horses off all ages some youngstock and some old so not ridden but I get up 5am every morning and don't get home until 8pm in the evenings. I work full time during the day. Never get a day off but wouldn't change my horses for the world. It's a case off find time if you really want it
