Hind boots

I also saw Zara jumping in them at WEG. How come you do not see SJs using them? I am guessing its to help with lazy hind legs?

Gives same protection as brushing boots, but with the advantages of open fronted tendon boots, so they can feel a pole if they wack it!

I saw she had them on at Hartpury, and I'm guessing it's something to do with them being so damn tight it makes the horse pick up better (they were taken off the minute she came out of the ring!)

I would also hazard a guess that the reason showjumpers don't use them is that they wouldn't have a horse that was incapable of jumping 1.20m/1.30m unaided.......

That is what I thought - did not realise they were done up so tight. They seem to work though as TT is a lousy SJ.

Weighted boots go all the way around the leg, so that there is even pressure. To me they just look loike open fronted tendon boots - bit odd

Umm thats what I thought! however, just a guess really havent used either.

I think they are by NEW and wondered when I saw Clayton and Zara with them on what the idea behind them was.

Sjers tend to just use fetlock boots.

I have to say I have seen some SJers with tendon boots on front and hind, I just assumed they wanted protection for higher up the leg than fetlock boots, but with the advantages of having open-fronted and not normal brushing boots?
Other than that I don't know!

Have found this - thanks for the NEW hint

the boots

So I guess that kind of answers my question but they still do not look like the eventers ones.

And isn't that ad for the NEW boots delightfully vague about HOW they work?! It doesn't say if they're weighted or give you any more detail other than that they "noticeably improve the jumping action".

Leggard use to make some for the hind legs. They were a 3 strap tendon boot & the staps went round the leg full once. They were suppose to improve the action behind making them pick up more. Maybe with the slight more pressure the horse aknowledges its hind legs more. The Leggard ones were also moulded to the indvidual leg too.
P.S. we had them on the Show jumping yard I use to run back in 99

These work by squeezing the tendons - this makes the horse pick up as it moves away from the pressure

I do wonder what long term use does, but handy for SJers with trailing back legs.
