How do you all work out how much your horse is worth?

Genuine question: I have one that is definately available for sale and one that MAY be but i at least need to update the insurance anyway.

How do you all work it out?

If you put the same age height and sex into a search engine on a horsey sales site does nothing come up?

I would be wary of asking on here. It seems that if posters know and like you they will tell you your horse is worth thousands, if they don't they will tell you they wouldn't pay more than £1k for it!
 
I find horsequest gives you a good steer.

Plus it has so many different categories you will find something similar

Just been on pricing up a couple of mine. Just have to break the news to my daughter:(

sorry thats not helping much! erm if you cant compare your horse, maybe by what its competiton record is, blood lines, winnings, age, theses usually factor in when it comes to price :)
 
I know what you mean when you say you're finding it hard to get a comparison. One of mine is for sale at the mo and I found it really difficult to get a comparison of the same age with the same experience. In the end I just guessed roughly. Prices are low where I am, I was given a bit of an estimate for a similar pony from someone on here, and I took off enough (I think) to make the price right for my location.
