Last year, I had a trim up of Donovans tail, and I cut it with a pair of scissors, straight accross. It was the right length, but was I was told by another showing person that I shouldnt cut it, but bang it? Didnt want to show how thick I was with this turnout lark, so nodded in agreement! But now I need to know!:D

It just means you need to hold it as though he is moving when you cut it, so the ends are all parallel with the ground. Usually you get someone else to shove their arm under the top of the tail so it is held as it normally is when he is moving, but a rolled up towel does the same job! I use clippers not scissors as you can get a straighter line.

What I do is to chop as straight as possible, then I get someone to pop their arm under the tail and I smooth it down with my hands until they are about 8" from the bottom. I then hold that place for my life and turn it up so I can keep trimming across the (now) top of it.

It saves crawling about on the floor, and I find I get a much better result!
