How do you call your horse?

Whether he is in the stable or out in his field I call him by whistling a Hi-low whistle, he looks up and come sauntering over or if he's in his stable he lets out a little whinny in response....so sweet.

I just shout his name, if he's in the stable then I get a whinny or if he's out then he comes ambling (or galloping!) up

They are always waiting at the gate i open it no headcollars and point and say bed lol they actually go into the right stables haha! i always greet excitedly in the morning and get whinnys good little yearlings

^ That's for the gelding and yes, he does respond to it, in fact if you call anything (even one of the other horses names) he thinks that you are calling him.

The grey is best called by indicating that there's food available. The two mares will neigh at you, but wont come over, you have to go to them (very annoying if they're at the top of the hill).

Erm, I have to sing 'hello, hello, hello, pretty darling', several times, otherwise she turns her bum and walks off. Yes, really.

Knew a mare that would only respond to an Irish accent. Male, preferrably. Was very funny listening to people trying to sound Irish.

My gelding comes to call. Anything thing will do. Dog whistle, Oi, fatty...

Mine hear the garden gate and all start shouting, all waiting lined up at gate, winter and summer.

I just shout good morning or afternoon or evening and my cob and older miniature will immediatly answer back and come to the gate, my little yearling miniature will come galloping over but not call and my old mare tries to ignore me completely and only comes if she thinks she is missing out on whatever the others are having! If I call their names the same response so perhaps they just think they are called 'good morning, afternoon and evening'

They usually hear the car pull up and are waiting at the field gate for fusses

If they haven't heard the car and I can't be bothered to walk to top of the hill I call 'poneeeeeees' in high pitched happy voice. Seems to do the trick!

I normally shout 'come on boys' if they're in the field, to which they normally come runnning, or i'll shout their names and that usually works. Especially if they look up and i have a bucket about my person!

In the stable normally they recognise the sound of OH's bike so are already whinnying and 2yo will be doing a happy dance around his stable.

Mine normally calls when he hears the gate open! Otherwise I shout/almost sing 'Come On' and everyone answers then

I usually whistle - one long, high tone, and they all come over, liveries and my own alike. But if I'm being ignored I call 'come ponies' and they do. Love 'em.

If he is in his stable he yells as soon as he hears me, in the hope of food. In his field I yell his name. Depends on how he feels from day to day, sometimes canters over, sometimes ignores me and sometimes walks halfway and stops to make me walk to him. On the odd occasion just stays lying down until I put the headcollar on.

Yes he has me very well trained.

I shout her name out of the car window as I get to the yard. She then waits by the gate for me. If she doesn't come I call her again and she usually comes at varying speeds (amble to knock you over gallop). If she doesn't come I start walking towards her then turn and walk away. At that point she neighs and comes at speed.

I just shout come on and the 3of them trundle over, the trick is then getting either one or both of mine out the gate with out our field mate following. She doesn't actually run off if she gets out just seems to think since the others are attached to lead ropes she must be too

I don't have to call him, he catches me out of the corner of his eye, stands upright ears pricked, makes sure its me and walks or canters down the field, depending on his mood. In the event he has his backside to me completely I whistle to him.

I am under the illusion (or delusion) it is because he loves me and can't wait to see me. My husband, however, brings me banging back down off my cloud and insists it is because I usually have a bucket of feed with me and Archie is just a big fat lazy hungry b*****d.

I shout her name and 'click'. She comes over to say hi because she knows she'll probably get food if she comes in/i'm in the field as she has daily supplements. I drive past her on the way to the actual yard bit so I usually shout her there and either jump out to get her in if someone else is driving or if I have stuff to do first I just shout and she waits at the gate. If i've been away for a few days or she decided to miss me sometimes she whinnies to me when I call

When my car comes around the corner of the field, he usually whinnies and follows the car up to the gate. If he's not near the fence, when I get to the gate I have a special whistle . If it's hot, they all amble up the hill to me, if it's cool or breezy, there's usually a mad gallop

Conversation back down the field goes along the lines of ''i do wish you would learn to come to call, we will work on it tomorrow!! but what a good boy being caught so well!!''

If their in their stables they call me before I call them . In fact the big boy shouts as soon as he hears me.

In the field I call their names and 9 out of 10 times they come.

I call him by his name or 'baby' I get a oh hi mum yeah I hear you, then he comes on over bless, haven't quite got the whinny from him yet, but only had him 2 weeks
