How do you clean a horses snotty nose (Wont come off with just water and cloth)

As you may know my horse has recently had a cold(called the vet) and he is much better. His nose is still quite snotty and I have tried cleaning his nose with just some warm water and a cloth but it doesnt come off. I assume you don't use bath stuff or anything.

What do i use to get all of it off ? (some of its hardened and some is still a bit soft)

A bit of baby oil should help loosen it.

A little baby oil or vaseline rubbed onto his nose will help to remove it and help prevent more sticking if you put some on a couple of times a day.
