How do you clean your hat?

Well, I put mine in the sink, fill it with warm water and laundry fluid (non bio, not sure if that matters!), swish it all about then leave it to soak for 10 mins or so, rinse well and leave on radiator to dry. Probably not the manufacturer's recommended method though! My friend has a fancy deoderising hat spray thingy which seems to work well. I seem to be rather, erm, sweaty around the head area though, so don't like the idea of simply leaving the old sweat there and adding a bit of spray.... [Ugh, that sounds grim now I've typed it out]

You are meant to clean them? I just sweep the spiders and cobwebs out.

No, seriously, I used to wipe it down with a soapy cloth, dry and spray with de-odouriser.

my gpa i just replace the padding things that are attached by velcro when they get a bit gross and for my other hats i just have one of those freshen up spray things, but it doesn't really clean it. the front padding bit of one of my hats is covered with make up and things so it doesn't do anything for that :/

Where i plaster my make up on with a trowel :D, there is always a layer of foundation around the front of my hat :o I sponge clean it and use a freshner spray thingy.:D

Hangs head in shame. Has never cleaned a hat - ever!

I do shake out the horse hair, hay and other bits of fluff that sometimes work their way inside, though. At the moment, with the entire gang moulting like mad, that seems to be all the time.

Am I scummy or what?

(Just to make myself feel a bit better - my very best, posh, velvet hat that only comes out for dressage or shows is immaculate, however!)

I use teatree facial wipes from the chemists to give hats a freshen up inside. It is surprising how much grime comes off, even if cleaned regularly!
