Hello everyone I am conducting a research study at the University of Lincoln alongside Dr Colin Butter. We are interested in finding out how parasite loads vary in horses across the country but we need your help first. If you have a spare five minutes and wouldn’t mind filling out an anonymous survey on worming schedules we would be very grateful. And if you feeling particular kind a share of the link to your individual equine communities would be much appreciated.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.
All the best from Dominika and Colin.

Q12, No option for poo picking more often than once a week! I do mine daily as do others, many do more than once weekly if they poo pick.
Q18. I Never use tablets. I use paste in syringe but no option for this most common way of giving equines a wormer.
Q20, tablets again? Compounds will depend on what the equine is being wormed for, surely?

OP, unless I complete a question incorrectly, I cannot complete it..... sorry.

I have made adjustments accordingly, thank you for the feedback. The survey has been updated and published so you should be able to complete it accurately. I believe the link above should still be active, but just in case it is not I have attached it below.

Regarding the compounds - you are right on the compound being dependent on what is being teated, we are however interested in seeing what the general publics choice of compounds generally is.

I couldn't complete as I have multiple horses kept in different routines, in different fields on my own property, some are poo picked others harrowed and rotated, some live out 24/7 others are partly stabled.

I also have never used tablets for worming, maybe it requires a bit more thought if you want to get a broad range of answers from people who own more than one horse.

Thank you for the feedback, I will take it on board and write it up as a limitation of the survey.

I've done it but:

Q14 - turnout hours change in winter (9 hours) from summer (19), the questionnaire doesn't allow for that
Q19 - I worm as needed according to egg counts (no option for this) plus for encysted redworm. No mention of the new test for redworm in the survey, but I'm interested in trying it rather than pumping my horse full of chemicals.

Also, no data requested on how often the horse has needed to be wormed, or where the poo from the field goes. We don't have any option other than to put it in the field boundary so I am assuming that the 10m grazing in from that could be hosting worm larvae.

Thank you for your comments, these will be factored in upon the future expansion of the survey under epidemiological considerations.
