Just wondering how people gets their rugs dry without a drying machine/ heating of any sort. One of my rugs got soaked from all the rain 3 days ago. And it was still wet this morning after hanging it in my soon to be new stable on some jump wings.
Thankfully today the sun is out which dried them within an hour. But can't gaurantee sun in the winter :(
How does everyone else get their rugs dry?

As above, I don`t take them off until they are dry :)

Decent rugs we have these days don`t leak (if they do then I get them proofed of chuck them) so the horses are always snuggly underneath :D

If I do have to take off a wet rug (ride, vet, etc) then I don`t put it back on til it`s bone dry so I hang it up it the barn and it usually takes about 2 days :(

I would leave them on her to dry but she comes in every night to help save the grass, and I would never leave a soaking rug on her in the stable. And she would probably do something to make me have to get the vet out knowing my luck this year

I leave them on my horse even if she is kept in with the wet rug on. The rug is not wet underneath so it's not like she standing in a soaked rug....especially when they've been left standing outside in the rain all day.

I leave on sometimes but if we are riding straight away I hate putting a wet rug on. I have a little gas fire from Go outdoors and I hang the rug up and put the fire on. Make sure nothing can fall on it and it needs to be in good ventilation but it helps and is cheap. If I had electric I would have a heated rug rack.

Mine only get wet on the outside. Sometimes the inside bottom edge gets wet from vigourous rolling, but always ok to go back on. Don't leave on as our indoor barn is very warm, so wear less in than out. I have some poles hung up, I just throw them over them.

If they're not very wet they stay on the horse. I have 2 outdoors, so if one gets very wet they're swapped, so pony doesn't wear a damp rug. The wet one comes into the utility room to dry.

Just either leave them on if horses live out, or horse has to have clammy rug back on in stabled overnight (I won't let them stand in wet rugs).

All my horses keep their rugs on even if wet. I come out at 9pm- 10 pm and they are all dry. Better than having a soaking wet rug on in the morning:)

ATEOTD the horse is dry under the rugs so I don't see the problem standing in wet rugs

Leave it on!

Lyla live's in her turnout 24/7 even though she is stabled at night

Imagine when you get up in the morning, getting changed out of your nice cosy PJ's and getting into something cold ?? Thats what you do to your horse by changing its rug!

Not berating people that do this but, modern rugs are brilliant. If the rug is wet on the outside and dry inside (like most good rugs!) then leave it on, it will be bone dry in the morning.

And you save time not changing rugs - so an extra couple of minutes in cosy bed for you!!!

Win win!:D:D:D

Bet that smells nice!! :D

Before I stopped changing from stable to turnout rugs, I'd brought rugs home to dry ... and I live in studio flat!

Rather an attractive aroma!!!:D:D
