Erm I don't cut carrots in half unless they are really big then I snap them. Apples I cut in half down from the stalk.
As far as I'm aware there is no rule for this
well i used to just break carrots, but then i read on here that it can make them choke, so i was just wondering. abby has taken a big fancy for apples so was just checkin if there was any particular way they should be fed
Apples - as there's never any knife available I just stamp on them to break them up or hold them whilst ponio mucnhes on them. Carrots just get thrown in with the food or if very big, get snapped in half.
carrots should be cut lenght ways so they dont choke on the round pieces.
Apples i asume anyway so as they are not round, so the normal way would be ok!
Ive also heard that horses shouldnt eat more than 3 apples a day.
apples quartered and carrots lenghtways if in a feed or whole if in holding the end
Had a horse roll a whole apple around in its mouth for ages and almost choke as it couldnt get any urchase with its teeth.very scary!
No point in risking choke in my opinion for something so simple as a few chops with a knife
yeh i always have cut my apples into quarters, i thought it would be dangerous to feed them whole. is it not dangerous to feed carrots whole tho, are they not too big??
I feed carrots whole. If they are big then I snap them in half. Have never fed them sliced or cubed, as that's asking for touble. The choke risk is too great. I cut apples in half, and usually feed them by hand.
