How do you find a horsey partner?

I had one once......alas I left her and now I want another. Any ideas? Need someone to share my love of my boy and horses and dogs and countryside with - such a waste having all this hacking land and noone to share it with.....romantic walk to the pub hand in hand etc.

It never got me anywhere!!!

I find myself going out now and my new chat up line is how many acres do you have????

I would not want a horsey partner at all! I love the time on my own that I spend with my horse..it is the only time I feel I can do what I want and not be nagged, interupted or moaned at!!It would be my worst nightmare if my oh decided he wanted to get into it and have a horse too...sounds awful but not meant that way...just love that time to myself to enjoy my passion.

Agree I a lot of people I talk to or know seem to be more interested in the material things (land/horse box and ...if they have a horse trade) rather than the individual person, of course its nice to have a partner that shares the same interests but its not the be all and end all.

My OH is non horsey, aint rich and doesn't own any land.....but he knows I love him for who he is and not what he has.

Not everyone is that way enclined of course but I can understand why some horsey men run a mile when approached by horsey women trying to get to know them!

Dont look for one, make one!! My OH was afraid of horses when we got together. 4 years on he's now a VERY competent rider and I think in a few years time, we will be looking to buy a horse together!!

I can't think of any suggestions as I met my OH during a car meet. We're both into MGs and ended up at the same Essex pub meet so I certainly owe it to my lovely little car!

Anyway, I've been started riding when I was 7 (23 now), he knew I had horses and lives out in the sticks anyway. He always goes to the horses with me, and developed a good relationship with them despite never really having any contact with horses. A couple of years after we got together and he's learning to ride, I'm so chuffed

So the moral of the story is, if even if they're not horsey to start with, introduce them to your friendliest horse and they may come round to the idea. Saffron loves people, and makes it impossible to 'not like her' (difficult to describe).

You get an 'ordinary' partner.....and over the years you change them .....start off with the little things...'would you mind bringing horsey in from the field please?...
......build up to mucking out, gradually train them up in the art of haynet filling and bucket scrubbing and before you know it......voila! Horsey partner...they may even end up with their own horse.

Thats how I did it anyway........
