As title really, how do you go about getting into the sport?

Is it the sort of thing where you have to have all the gear first, or are there facilities where you can go and borrow a horse/pony and give it a go?:D

If so anyone know of anywhere around Shropshire area?

I don't know about your area, but a couple of polo yards up my way (Scotland) do lessons. That might be a good approach to try first. Google "polo lessons in "your area"."
I had a couple of lessons and thoroughly enjoyed it:D
The yard I went to also hires ponies for matches if you don't own. :D

I think most clubs do taster lessons so try having a few and see how you get on. Be warned though, the lessons are pretty expensive in comparison to 'normal' riding lessons and running your own string is equally very expensive.
You could also try contacting local yards to see if they need any help with yard duties and exercising horses etc. which is what I'm doing this summer :)

Go onto the hurlingham polo club website, they are the governing body and their website shows all the clubs in uk and there is loads of info on there. Find and call up your local club they will nO doubt have a polo school where you can get lessons and start learning. Good luck!

I don't know of any in your area, but my husband bought me a course of lessons for a Christmas present a few years ago - amazing fun! The ponies are brilliant! Google it in your area and you're bound to find something.
