How do you have your cocker spaniels cut?

So puppy is booked in for his first proper groom on Saturday. He's had a puppy groom before but they didn't actually cut anything off. He is so desperate although I don't think you can see it properly in the photos. His feathers are really long and I'm struggling to keep them tangle free.

Groomer has suggested a traditional cocker cut or all off. If she does a traditional groom will he keep his feathers etc but just shorter? If it's all off is it literally all over?
I don't know how I want him. Trying to look at photos to see and take with me.
How long does it take for it to grow back if I do hate it?

There's a nice guide to the traditional trim here, with pics: http://www.powerscourt-cockers.co.uk/advice-pages/cocker_coat_care.htm

I personally don't like to see them with it all off (generally means completely scalped, depending on your groomer!) but appreciate that a full coat is a PITA to maintain, I'm sure there's a happy medium to be had with a stripped out head and back but some feather and skirt left underneath. :)

I have my boy done like this and have done for 6 years now, my groomer has used him a couple of times for exams (gundog clip & cocker clip) and growing him him out is a nightmare, being outside so much everything sticks to him and he mats so easily! he is show cocker x field spaniel, but still grows a very good coat! I have him clipped every 5-6 weeks, occasionally i go a bit longer but by 8 weeks he is a bog brush ! :)
