As above really. Even if you have the most amazing horse, and you should be buzzing, do you ever feel like you can't be bothered and don't know why?

Yes I have patches of feeling like I just can't be bothered. So the days when I feel like this i give them a few days off work, just do the minimal each day (check them over) and do my own thing for a few days. That seems to help....i always end up missing riding though whilst im going thru this period and I wake up sometimes with the urge, even if its 5am! lol

I think people feel like that about everything really. i sometimes think why don't i just sell the boys and do something normal then i very quickly realise i wouldn't want to do normal stuff

maybe just have a bit of time away from the horses every now and then. I always find going to a show just to watch gets me wishing i was competing

My mare and me have an arrangement, she is the same if I ride her every day or once a month. So if I don't feel like riding I don't. But then again we are not really 'aiming' for anything so it doesn't matter.

It keeps me still wanting to ride and enjoying it and frankly she wouldn't be impressed if I wanted to ride every day anyway!

BTW tomorrow we are going for a toddle. Its been 5 weeks, but this time it was due to her needing time off for some physio and reflocking her saddle. Then I had visitors.

Think we will both enjoy it going for a little meander!

I get a bit jadded sometimes mainly because I keep my horses here on the island and lack horsey company, I do have one friend on the island who also has horses and she is fun but it isnt the same as having UK horsey friends.

I dont compete although I am trying very very hard to get my braveness up to try some basic dressage, I am really spoilt with good facilities at home, great tack and a fab horse but sometimes it just seems too much effort which is bad of me

.

It is hard for me mentally to want to ride sometimes though because riding does cause me quite a lot of pain having a muscle illness and arthritis, even brushing and then tacking up can wear me out but I try and just push on and remember the good bits.

On my bad days, I groom my beautiful mare, loose school and then take her out in hand for some yummy grass to munch on, so I always try and do something. I think with a pain related illness it is always a temptation to sit on the sofa and do nothing, the horses force me to get on with things and keep me a bit active which is really positive
