its time to buy your own horse! Of course it what every rider aspires to do but i dont know where to start!I have had horses on loan but can't be doing with the hassle of the owner! ive decided to go back to having lessons but I dont think it will be enough , if you know what i mean!

When you can afford the keep and the time, (bear in mind if you can only afford DIY you will need more time than if you can afford part or full livery, can be a catch 22 with working hours) and have the knowledge of stable management and the riding experience to deal with most eventualities.

I think if you feel confident about your ability to do all this then you probably don't have enough experience!

I've got over 25 years experience and am still bricking it about whether I'll cope!

It might be worth doing a BHS horse owners certificate or stage 1 to give yourself the confidence in your abilities.

more worried about where to find livery...i wouldnt want to use any of the yards i have previously used. Do you approach a new yard before you buy your first horse? might sound like a stupid question but dont want to look like an idiot!

I think I have done it for so long its second nature and I worry more about what I will do if I dont have horses in my life!!!

If you have fully loaned, and enjoyed it, then I would buy. TBH the amount of people that buy unsuitable horses willy nilly and then dont ride or look after them etc, its nice to read about someone worrying about it!!!

You dont know unless you try though! x
