how do you know how much your horse is supposed to weigh?

i have no idea at all haha

hes a 17.2hh ISH in full work (6 days a week 1 1/2 hrs a day)

thankss

Load up horse and go to the nearest public weigh bridge (Trading Standards will tell you where it is). Weigh trailer and horse, unload horse, weigh trailer, get out the calculator. Simples!

If you can get a few people together, Spillers will come out with their portable scales and weigh your horses :)

Surely buying a weightape at your local horsey shop and doing it yourself is the simplest answer!? As Mrs Mozart said.....

Unless, like one of ours, yours feels that the tape is going to eat him, then I'd go another route!!!!

This question got me thinking - my instructor jokingly (I think:eek:) said yesterday about my horse who is carrying is summer tummy "when are you going showing?"

I found this - which suggests Ludo is actually a little underweight at 540kg (he's a 16.2 warmblood) scroll to the bottom of the page for the table:

hmm i will have to guess they weight he is supposed to be being 17.2hh hmmm oh well, i was just wondering as he came out of the winter at 435kg and was looking lean but not like ammaciated or anything (drops off weight so much its unbelieveable) and now i would say he is looking 'well' you can feel his ribs but cant see them but he still seems to have a bit of a belly on him... according to the weight tape he is now 705 kg but he hasnt changed that much?! but im gonna look again tonight as i dont not believe that i have done this right :o
