How do you measure a girth ??

Am embarrassed to ask but how do you measure a girth ?

Am off to Your Horse Live in November and am thinking might treat my lad to a nice new leather girth. The one he has now fits nicely but is old and the leather is cracked, but how do I measure it ??

Is it from buckle to buckle or just the actual leather bit excluding the buckles ??

i've always done it end of buckle to end of buckle, cos that makes the most sense. *awaits correction*

Dont worry, you are correct! The only thing to bear in mind is if the old one has stretched. Girths normally come in 2" increments eg 50, 52, 54 etc if yours measures 51" then it probably started as a 50"
