I have decided 2 sell a couple of saddles on ebay. I have had them years and cant for the life of me remember what width etc they are and what size the seat is.

Would I be right in thinking that its d ring to d ring and from pommel to cantle?

Thankies in advance

I think the seat size is from the stud on the pommel to the centre of the cantle.
Width is d to d ring.

Exactly! Diagonally from stud at side of pommel to centre of cantle. Width= D to D

Yep and some have the width stamped on them too, wide, narrow etc.

I always want to know the D ring measurement, and the width between the padding at the gullet.

measure saddle size (length) from head nail which is the round nail at front of skirt to the centre of cantle. width doesnt always ring true if you measure inbetween d rings as they are positioned differently on each saddle. to be sure buy a cheap wintec gullet guage and make a template by drawing width at front of saddle panel over forepiece arch to panel and then use guage, tree dictates width so some panels might be more flocked than others. if saddle is old it may have been a medium for example and used on a horse that has stretched the tree very slightly so just offer a guide to width, saddle s have a variable fit according to make, some companies wide will be another cos med wide! buyer beware on ebay so you are just giving a rough estimate of width its up to buyer if it fits horse or not!!
