16.3 9YO well bred ISH gelding
proven hunter whipped in very succesfully brilliant with hounds jumps 1st or last being very bold but at the same time controlable. he is great xc machine he eats up the ground and gets home in good time without having to hell for leather showjumps well joe whitaker has played with him and jumped him over a 1m30 square oxer (dont no if he would do a course this high but he would do fox hunter). good to shoe clip box hack.

now here are his faults.

he is head shy he had abit of a git of an owner from what i can gather previous to me making him abit weary with his bridle but my mum can tack him up who has had a false knee put in and is in need of another so aslong as you know how to go about it hes fine. i have tacked him up in back of lorries and stuff and never had a problem.

and for the second he throws me off when i put my arse in the saddle now i will admit i am no rider and it doesnt get rid of anyone else 2 mates of mine have ridden him and he hasnt done anything wrong but when i get on him he gets rid. but its only me but obv cos of this i cant show him to anyone unless i can tie someone down to ride him for me.

so what are your ideas?

The fact he launches you would IMO lower his value dramatically - i know you say he doesnt do it to others but if i was looking for a horse like him and got told he couldnt be ridden by the owner it would really put me off unless it was a v. reasonable price/advertised as a potential project horse, sorry

.

As for price i am not sure as he sounds like a horse with a lot of potential, if he didnt have any issues would say £5K+! Would you consider putting him at a sales livery with a dealer or something to get rid? Hope this helps

ye well had thought of that. but then u put on sales livery and im bothered that they string it along to get the extra dosh. he has def got potential but i do understand what your saying and i think the exact same as you it is the bay horse in my pics so as you can see he can jump.

Friend of mine just sold her intermediate eventer for £2500 because it was slightly cold backed (fine if you tacked it up and waited 5 mins before getting on though,) and would have a high spirited buck if spooked when fresh.

We've been given a maxi cob hunter as his owners had no need for him and he can be cold backed too (broncs like a rodeo horse if he's had a few days off!)

Trouble is, if you know he has the potential to do it and you don't tell the future owner.... you will be liable if he then does it and particularly if they're then hurt......

He looks fab tho - real shame

There are different types of sales livery - if you go for one which is a % of the sale, the longer they have the horse the more it costs the professional. A financial incentive can go a long way!

i'd send to sales livery but to someone that you trust not to rip you off- tell them what the horse does and then surely its up to them when they disclose when selling? (not sure on this, hopefully someone will clarify!)

Yes - you need someone else to sell him for you.....he does sound great, and that for whatever reason, you and he don't click - should be a £5K plus horse really.

Have you had all the usual checks done? Saddle and back being the two most obvious ones in this case? What is he like if lunged/loose schooled (with tack on) before you get on? Have you had a trainer look at him?

If you could work out the root of this problem it would seriously improve your chances of a sale (and his chances of not being PTS/worse!)
