those of you that know princes story know hes been through alot in the last 6 months. well hes now been in walk work for coming up 2 months. hes being re assesed next week to see if i can extend his walk work and add in some hill work. iv started him on haylage out in the field. i still have alot of grass so hes not to interested in it. and hes on two big feeds a day. if he drops when it gets cold he will have 3 feeds a day.

its difficult to notice a change when you see them everyday.
 
He could probably still do with putting on a little bit more weight but he looks well! :) I missed the photos of him before - could you post them so I can see the difference?

back in january a BD judge pulled me up saying he was irregular. didnt think to much of it as he gets very tense and hollow. went through the next few novices fine and got good scores. then did an unnafiliated in april and a good friend/instructor was judging and said he didnt look right. then a few days later out of the blue out hack on the beach with a friend he just stoped and refused to move forwards. tilted his head and almost threatend to rear which he has never done in the whole 4 years iv had him. so called the vet and he had a full work up. he was found to be lame on all fours upon flexion tests. had various nerve blocks done and test over the next few months, still not sound. he then got kicked which burst very old scar tissue open on his hind leg and agrivated and old hairline fracture. he was lame in walk from that for 3 weeks. in the end he went to endells hospital in salisbury and had a full body bone scan. he had a dye uptake to to both his hocks, his spine and both front feet. further tests later revealed he has DJD bone spavins in both hocks. T14-16 kissing spines and they didnt do any further test with his front feet due to him having so many feet issue. came home abit of a mess. still wast coming sound infront with remedial shoeing so last month he had x-rays which revealed he had navicular in both front feet. he was off work for 5 months and then started walk work. over august he droped every ounce of muscle he had and lost alot of weight. he generally looked old and dull (hes 12) think he was fed up of being proded and poked with needles.but since being in walk work hes brightened up. (he loves hacking!) its still touch and go wether hel come sound but hes retired from competition and will be a hack/funride horse.

Thanks for the recap :) awww bless, he has been threw a lot. Really good to hear that you can ride him in walk. He is looking really good. Well Done. xx
 
hes loving it! i even had to pop his happy mouth gag in as he was getting abit fresh through the fields. he even had a little buck which shocked me! he does mostly field work as he aluminium shoes on and they wear quickly with the road work so he does the first 5 minutes is through a field and then the home turn is on the road. cant wait to start trotting him! never been so excited about trotting!
 
The first photo shows him looking very alert, bright eye, a good coat and feeling well in himself - well done, it would seem that he has had a tough time.
