Hi everyone, hope the windy weather isnt getting you down to much
Anyway i have now had my new horsey just over a week and apart from a odd reaction yesterday to deosect (he came with lice) everything has gone smoothly.
Today i decided to take him out (on the ground) to have a good look at the local area. Up till now i have been walking him down our lane and around the winter field.
So he is a ex racer 7 year old gelding roughed out over winter but no training as such.
These were the hazards we came across...
1. Very very windy
2. Narrow path with hedge either side blowing onto him and me!
3. 2 dogs off the lead sniffing round him
4. numerous tractors, none of which slowed down
5. Road roller as our road is being resurfaced
6. Cars chucking up the loose stones from the road resurfacing
7. bonking pigeons in the undergrowth
8. A fisherman wafting his rod around
9. Very lively cows chasing us down the hedge
10. road signs from roadworks flapping madly, one of which came off the pole and blew into hedge
11. new house being built at end of lane with flapping plastic, builders making a noise etc
12 and finally a man jet washing his driveway wearing a bright yellow all in one water proof thingy and the generator making alot of noise

So how do you think it went...answers on a postcard please!!

My girly would have had a nervous breakdown - it only takes a stray leaf to cause a meltdown so I would have had to carry her back in my arms if we had met what you came across

But in your case, I am guessing he was a star?!

but no he was a absolute star in every way...i just wish the doubters had been there to see it!! One of which has a horse she cant do anything with unless the weather is perfect. I know it is still very early days but i was just so proud of him that i had to post about it...and yes you are right he has the most gorgeous kind eyes, everyone who has seen him has said the same. I feel like the luckiest person in the world right now

I bet that he walked past all of that without batting an eyelid and then spooked at an inanimate object when you got back to the yard?

do you mind me asking what you do with your ex racer? I bought mine because he has such a nice temperament and i wanted something to hack out on but as i get to know him im thinking that i might like to do something more with him. The trainer thought he would be a good endurance horse?
