How do you tie a dressage stock?

Well, I finally got around to buying on, only to get it home and find all the instructions are in FRENCH!

Someone help me, I have to tie the bloody thing on Sunday!

Yey... Because a hunting stock and dressage one are different aren't they?

err no the same, as they do a job of protecting throat - right over left, left over right - straighten knot - right boob, left boob pin

I have always understood that a hunting stock is as per the diagrams, but a dressage stock goes straight down

I do straight down - cant get the little sticky up bits to look good either side

it's does matter either way, as you'll have jacket on, but if you look at my sign you can't tell difference promise

I tend to do a cross if I wear my navy/black jacket and a straight down one in my tweed.

I go to my local saddlery and buy a ready made one!! x

There should be a button on your collar at the front in the middle, and a button hole on the stock. You put the hole over the button, then one end of the stock over one shoulder and round the back of your neck to the front, same with the other. Your collar may have loops for it to go through. Then tie as if you are tying a normal tie, but don't tuck the top bit in. Pin it in place. It is easier than a ready made one because you can make it the right size for your neck and you don't have to worry about velcro coming undone!
