I've just bought a new horse and put him in the field with my grey gelding and they have gotten attached to eachother..... they walk away when i go near and Bruce will no longer come to my call :S

What shall i do?!?! will they be okay if i just separate the field or do they need different fields? the grey is up for sale atm, cannot wait for him to go so i can enjoy my new jumping tb!!!! :(

Help please, thankyou

try sepparating them just to see how they react so that you know in advance wrather than finding out on the day someone comes to pick up the grey!! separate them in to different field so they can see each other but not be too close if they are not bothered than try out of sight if they still are not bothered then they should be ok to stay in together if not then have them in field next to eachother and gradually move them apart!!

hope this helps and answers what you were asking.. :D

Are there any other horses in the field?
If not, can they see other horses over the fence?
If they are the only two horses on the property, can you stable one while you ride the other?

They are the only two i have. I have one stable and one field...
Preferably i would like the tb to live in but the grey is used to living in and gets wound up in the afternoon if he is not brought in on time. The fence is only about 3ft. 6" high and he pushes against it so very worried that if i separate them they may jump or push through the fence :S :S :S.

Update though, i have managed to get the grey inside and the tb is in the field, he seemed okay when i left him, made sure his haynet was FULL! lol

just worried about what to do tomorrow as i want to ride the tb and chuck the grey out but i don't know how i will swap them over on my own.... lol

This is why I ended up with three horses! Only having two was no good as when I wanted to bring one in the other would get stressed. The third is a free companion ex-racehorse, she has made my life so much easier and the other horses alot happier.

Now I can ride/train/pamper one of them and the other two are happy in the field. The one I take away is always happy to be doing something fun. ;)

Horses are herd animals and although some will cope on their own, it's not ideal even then.
