how do you work out a foals fully grown hight ??

Well this supposedly (sp) works, using a front leg when she is 6 months old, measure from the ground to the point of elbow in inches, then double is and that's the adult height. I guess you then divide by 4 to get hands??

No, that's not quite correct. Measure the foal's leg (at around 6 months) from the middle of the fetlock joint to the elbow (olecranon process), and take the same distance upwards from the elbow, to give the final wither height.
Do you know the height of the dam and sire?

His dam is 16.2hh and his sire is 16.1hh, but he has been estimated to make 17hh by the vet on his registration documents. I just hope he has it right, as at the moment he looks as though he will make a little bigger than that. He is already in a 5'9" rug
