How do your dog react if you stand on it?

As above! Odd question I know, but both of mine move away while looking offended. However, a Yorkie I know bites! The owners then pick it up and cuddle it. Am I being heartless in that I would be telling it off for the biting??

Mine would probably squeal and cry like a big baby and look mortified :p

I would not be too harsh on any dog that makes to defend itself if it feels pain (most dogs won't think, ma stood on me accidentally - some of a certain type will more likely think, ouch, sudden pain, lash out), but I would definitely not be picking it up and cuddling it/feeling sorry for it, that will not help at all.
If you follow pain with a telling off, which could be perceived as unfair by the dog, who is perhaps still in pain, you could create more conflict.

I suppose with a lot of things it depends on the dog but cuddling is definitely not the preferred option. Ignore or isolate would probably be a better approach.

Yes, not in the habit of standing on my dogs! But this little guy has a habit of lying under people's feet, but he sneaks in so you don't know until he's attached to your toe...

i would ignore it but teach the dog to move when i start to get up, so before the conflict has happened, owners need to get in the habit of telling dog to get out of the way or teaching it to lay somewhere else.

Nope mine have never bitten me ever but If they did under those circumstances I certainly wouldnt punish them for it. I fell over Darcy, I didnt see her, she jumped out the way and the momentum made me land on her, it must have hurt but she just looked surprised.

Mine normally yelps and bolts sideways. I just give him an "oops, sorry kid!" and he gets over it.

Won't lie though, if Ive put my full weight on his paw and he's sitting their holding it up with his big old round watery eyes blinking at me and being squashy I 'll go cuddle him.

The occasional squished paw is followed by appalled screaming and Advanced Limping the levels of which increase depending on how many people can see the true extent of the unbelievable cruelty.
Interestingly, the paw-that-will-need-to-be-amputated-due-to-irreversible-damage is magically mended as soon as there's a bunny to chase ;)

I usually fall over them then swear at them...poor things get 'Squish, then you bloddy stupid dog, why are you lying there...'. I do feel guilty afterwards. They just look offended and slink off, although lurcher may scream.

Mine will yelp and then lick me to death! He had a habit of lying right behind my feet when I am in the kitchen cooking, but after being stood on several times he soon stopped! He's now the "incredible reversing dog" and feels the need to reverse the length of the mobile home when I need him to move

If I've accidentally stood on mine, he will usually jump up and spring himself around your legs in a hyper manner. I've usually gone "OH NO!" at him, and he seems to realise I'm sorry. Even if he's yelped, he will still dance around hyper and go find something like a pinecone to pick up. Never bitten or slinked off looking worried.

Usually barely notices - occasionally yelps but usually stops being an idiot which is why he got stood on in the first place. Alternatively consumes whatever it just made me drop by being under my feet- can you tell it's a lab! Didn't even wince the time I sat on him when he decided the quickest way to get to his ball was through my legs - just wriggled out and got the ball!

Mine just look at me as if to say, 'Clumsy mare!' but they are Danes so weigh almost as much as I do and will get their revenge by standing on my foot then tearing off using my foot to push off with. Yarooch!
I actually caught my three year old using Maximus to stand on while he raided the cupboard. They are as thick as thieves those two and were no doubt going to share the spoils after the raid!

Im always bumping into mine when they get under my feet and accidentally squishing paws!

Mine are rescues and cower and do dead dog whenever they get bumped into / feet squished. One of mine is silent and the other two will yelp!

It always usually happens when I'm cooking in the kitchen and step back without looking! (off topic but I've always been waring of stepping on my dog after a women who worked at my dads office stepped and killed her baby sausage dog)

My collieX girl yelps and then apologies to me, bless her typical girl she assumes everything is her fault

my patterdale boy yelps and then immediately checks on his family jewels, no matter if it's paw, tail or whatever i've stood on he lives in mortal fear that i've somehow damaged the thing that's truely important to him.
