I recently have been playing with bits with Samba. Tried a bit a found at a bootfair years ago its a loose ring snaffle with a curve in it. And she accepted it straight away, no hollowing between transitions.

Looks very like this one. Now I dont like using things that I don't understand how it works and what effect it has.

Can anyone explain the action of it please?

It is curved to follow the shape of the horse's mouth, so good for horses with large tongues/low palates and the nutcracker action is reduced so is generally a kind fairly mild bit. :)

My horse loves his bit the same as this. He was in a Waterford to break the habit of him grabbing hold of the bit and leaning (old habits). He is now in the curved snaffle and goes really well in it.

Yes it's dressage legal, as long as you don't have bit guards. I use one but have the eggbut version, google JP bits and you'll find them, but sure there are other makes, I bought mine from Robinsons. :)

My mare accepted this happily after we tried a french link and a standard jointed snaffle.
