I think I know in principle, but if a horse panics & pulls back, will it release itself, or do you have to pull back the peice of metal (with an arrow on it) that holds the clasp in place?

I use one on the yard, but not in my trailer & wondered if you have to rely on being close at hand to release them if they panic. I always thought that they would release if a horse pulled back forcibly enough.

Oh god I have lost the plot, I wondered what on earth kind of clip a panic clip was (thinking hunter clip, blanket clip, chaser clip etc

Not sure how they actually work, but yes if the horse pulls back hard then they definitely release without you needing to do anything

I Think you have to manually release it...? Unless its been in use a month or longer... then they seem to develop a life of their own

Better to use a very thin piece of bailing twine or the bungee loop thingys maybe?

HAHA - me too! I thought maybe it was a clip I hadn't heard of - like you realise you've taken the horse too far while exercising and needing to get rid of that coat sharpish!

I was thinking it was some sort of new supplement specfically for horses that get stressed when clipping. After all if you can get ones just for fireworks why not for clipping.
