If you watch other Grade 1 riders then him, you will see that although he has mega disabitaies, his core strenght and straightness are really very good. He has natural balance and just goes to show that so much of what we try to do is down to our balance and seat. I love his new horse, but missed his test...
He is amazing. As Hils says, he is so strong in his core and so straight in the saddle. Stunning rider. I'll never forget seeing him schooling GP on Blue Circle Boy at a Ferdi Eilberg clinic. He did a line of 15 perfectly straight ones, better that you'd see in most international GP tests.
By the way, if you ever get the opportunity to train with him, he's supposed to be incredible. A friend of mine goes to him monthly for lessons and he has improved her riding so much.
Absolutley couldn't agree more with you Hils - it's certainly a case of "less is more" and the core muscles and straightness are the essential ingredients for a good rider!
(which is why I constantly tell myself to bare down! PMSL!
