My horse had a sarcoid on his ear which was removed in november, but it has started to come back. Has anyone had any experience of Liverpool cream being used on a horses ear. My vet doesn't seem keen to go down the liverpool cream route as he thinks it will deform his ear, but i'm not keen on having more of his ear cut, because it hasn't worked the first time. If it wasn't growing I would leave it, but it does seem to be getting bigger.
I really dont know what to do for the best

I wouldnt go the Liverpool cream route but possibly laser, or injecting it. I would email Professor Knottenbelt with photos(you can do that yourself or get ur vet to do so). hes usually very quick to reply!

Be careful with choosing how to deal with a returning sarcoid. Remember they are a form of skin cancer and any intervention can cause an aggressive growth spurt. I'm not a vet but it's possible that the returning sarcoid might be resistant to Liverpool Cream so you would need a different line of approach. BCG injections and laser or cryo treatment all carry the same risks. At least removing part of the ear would probably remove all trace of the sarcoid. I'd sooner a healthy horse with a notch in its ear than a horse with an uncertain future. I'd be guided by what your vet thinks. I think Prof Knottenbelt has reluctantly retired from Liverpool Uni but there will be people there with the same knowledge.
