Following on from post yesterday about horse needing to put a bit of weight on, I have been looking at various websites, and have found a couple of feeds that may help... but interested in peoples opinions on them:

Firstly, barley rings/nuggets as suggested last night:

Secondly, I was thinking about adding some alfalfa pellets into it to get some more fibre into him:

Topped up with his normal mix (cheapy shop own brand - he loves it!), oil and feed balancer (and hoof and joint stuff).

Any comments/Suggestions welcome!

IMO you shouldn't need a balancer if he's getting the right amount of the mix! if he's not getting a full portion of the mix then how about using farriers formula and a joint supp instead of the balancer and a hoof and a joint supp?
