How does your horse live?

In at night out during day. Partly because it's either that or in during day or out at night - he didn't fair well doing this last year and is looking great so far this year now I've swapped it over.

Summer - I try to keep her out 24/7 as much as I can but if the flies are bad she'll come in during the day. If the grass isn't giving her enough nutrition then she'll come in during the day to munch on hay.

Winter - Out for approx 8/9 hours a day but if the ground is very wet then they have to stay in. My horse doesn't care if she's in or out, bless her.

Currently out 24/7 because its mild, they're happy & I've got enough land to not have to worry about it getting trashed.
BUT my young eventer is a bit of a pain & I think life will be easier to work him in the morning from the stable so considering bring all 3 in.

Out 24/7. TB usually ends up being taxi service to and from grazing over day, so gets left tied up in the barn whilst I'm mucking out or riding others etc...so I guess he's 'in' for up to 3-4 hours some days.

Moved to a fab place this summer with amazing natural shelter, grass and space so still keeping mine out 24/7 atm which they love - feels weird for me but seeing them so happy...I'm enjoying the lie in's, for now!

Out 24/7 with four others, shes at a retirement livery and hates being stabled. Only comes in for a few hours when I ride (only semi-retired!) In bad weather (heavy snow) the herd gets put in a covered yard :)

She gets loads of grass ad lib hay and 1 feed day.

Shes a 20yr old TB

In at night, out during the day, which suits us both. He has days where he doesn't want to be out, other days he doesn't want to come in.

Most of the options apply to mine ;) apart from v limited or no turnout...

Summer - out 24/7, tho if very hot I occasionally bring them in to their stable... also helps with losing weight ;-)
Spring & autumn - sometimes in at night depending on weather, tho out around 12 hours or more.
Winter - on work days in at night (turnout from 6am till 5.30pm), non-work days they go into a small paddock with huge shelter in overnight - but the latter only applies if its dry-ish :D

TFF, applying routines as they suit me :D

All year round in, out from 8am-12pm at least in the winter, sometimes longer. In the summer it depends on the weather/grass.

It's due to my mare being very prone to laminitis and not being happy to be in a pen/wearing a muzzle. She gets at least an hour a day at really high risk times on the grass with lots of space to run around in and any time she can't be out for long she's lunged a bit more or walked out inhand.
It's the best I can do for her while balancing the risk to her and her happiness and she's had 18 months since her acute attack with no problems only a few pulses/footy days when I've tried to leave her out for longer. She's happy, isn't depressed and shes healthy but I usually get **** for it

If she ever got depressed a muzzle and superglue may have to be the next step :p or a pen with 6ft fences above and below ground and a roof ...

Mine are out 24/7 in the summer and in at night in the winter and out for the day, usually 8/9 hours. Did think i was going to have to leave them out this winter but managed to get them in, which my old girl is very happy about as she wasn't happy staying out.

Out full time. I have 10 stables in my barn, all empty :D

Why?

Because I have kowtowed to yard rules for 20+ years and have had my fill of mucking out and clockwatching.

I HATE mucking out:mad: I have no intention of ever, ever, doing it again for my own horses. If I have stabled liveries then that is a different matter, I still hate it but I am being paid for it :)

Out during day 8-10hrs and in at night.

I would like 24hr turn-out but only if
1) Fields were very secure
2) Someone lived on site at night- preferably myself
3) A large run-in shed/ barn for bad weather
4) Decent grazing
5) I would still need services as I work away quite a bit.
6) Good school
7) Excellent hacking
8) Stable if required.

I seems hard to find 24hr grazing with services and good facilities also provided. Round here the 24hr T/O options are on exposed fields with no hedges or shelters - I just wouldn't like that for my pampered WB.

taxi? do you ride and lead?

Among many things yeah!!! Part of our grazing is a mile or so from our barn, but near our house. I prefer to ride up to the barn, than get the car up, so just hope on my lad bareback and cut across the farm fields that are inbetween the grazing and the barn...much more fun and easier, and keeps him fit! Then if we have any youngsters in just backed, he's the most reliable one to give them a lead out hacking etc also. Multi-use lol.

Out 24/7 if it's dry and calm. Stabled at night if it's bad weather. If its pouring with rain during the day she has a couple of hours in with a Haynet if she's miserable by the gate.

Nell lives out 24/7, she prefers it, she is built for it without a doubt, she is a very warm horse, her coat is so dense! I am very pleased to be on a yard with this option and would not like it any other way

That's amazing! :D

Out 24/7 in the summer - in winter out from about 8am to 7pm and in overnight. Hes not happy staying out overnight in the winter - they start mooching around the gate around 5pm as its getting dark and they know dinner is close by lol

Do you need any rugs or anything for her? Putting one of mine out 24/7 for the first time next month!

Ive tried fetching my TB in at night with lots of hay, a lovely warm bed but he hates it  to the point of making himself ill so he is rugged up and out 24/7 with the haffie and welshie and is so much happier. I would love a clean, pretty horsey...mud free and sparkling but his happiness will always come first and he is lucky to have mud free fields for the first time in along time thanks to my friendly farmer friend who has agreed we can have an extra 5 acres...without this we would be struggling

No, she is a total yak and I have not rugged her yet, when i am riding her she will need a partial clip(apron or irish) as she is a real sweaty betty! She sweated up from a walk in hand last sunday, was not very far or quick either! I will then have to rug her in a lw or something, but right now she is naked and happy

At the moment in livery (do to being a baby and wanted to get to know him first) so Winter: In at night, Out during the day as long as I want him out for. Summer: Out 24/7.

In spring he is eventually coming home to my house (live on a busy A658 so he had to have met traffic first) then it will be Winter and Summer: In at night out during day as I dont have enough land for 24/7 turnout in summer!

Cant wait to get him home though x :)

Mine is in during the day in summer and at night in winter. She is too much of a fatty to be out 24/7 in the summer and she destroys muzzles. Everything else comes in at night during the winter, so she does too, she seems happy enough with the set up.

Had mare out 24 7 , moved to full livery couple wks ago for a couple different reasons and wow the change in her personality! She loves her stable - and being able to see what's going on around the yard. She is turned out for minimum of 6hrs a day and ridden 5 days a wk and lunged one day a wk

Very jealous. I can't find a yard near me with facilities that offer this, so I have opted for a field with no facilities as I know this is how my horse is happiest - out 24/7
